Billy Wingrove Skill Session – Football Foundation

Football freestyler Billy Wingrove was on hand to entertain crowds with a selection of skills and tricks at Stanley Park Sports Ground in Chippenham last week. Wingrove was joined by local Member of Parliament, Duncan Hames, at the site to officially open a new third generation (3G) artificial grass pitch, changing room facility and meeting room. The project was made possible thanks to a £351229 grant from the Football Foundation, the country’s largest sports charity. Billy Wingrove is one the most internationally renowned football freestylers in the world, gaining over 40 million hits on YouTube, and appearing in adverts alongside Lionel Messi, Christiano Ronaldo and the entire Manchester United squad. Speaking at the event, Wingrove pointed out the importance of the grassroots game and how it helped him develop his extraordinary talent, saying: “When I was growing up grassroots football was a significant part of my life. It helped give me a love for the game and a desire to work hard at improving and developing my skills. “Attending the event today and viewing all the youngsters enthusiasm playing on the new pitch and using the new changing rooms, it shows how many people in the local community will benefit from this project. The all weather surface will help ensure people are able to continue playing during the winter months as well that is important. “The Football Foundation is doing a great job all over the country with projects like this, and it is excellent to see …
