Entry from: Vancouver, Canada Entry Title: “Roadtrip north, Vancouver!!!” Entry: “Leaving a cloudy Seattle we began our journeys once more, first stop Canadian customs..it was fine we were just questioned how we knew each other and so on. so after that little tail back we were moving once more.like all the other places i didn’t know what to expect of Vancouver but had head some great things about the place. We as usual wondered around downtown for the day taking in the sights…before we knew it we had just walked onto Hastings street which was completely populated by homeless/street people..it was weird like as if we had just literally stepped from one scene in a film to another…..i was told later that the amount of homeless people doubled there between 2002 and 2005 and is now estimated to have approximately 2600 people on the streets…very strange and sad seeing such a thing…needless to say we high tailed it outta there in no time. after a while we found ourselves at the Coal Harbour (deliberately) where all the boathouses were and rather nice yachts were docked also…i think i might put one of those on my list to go with “sleepless in Seattle” boathouse :) While in beautiful Vancouver we rented bicycles downtown and cycled around Stanley park. we saw the traditiional totem poles and other

“Oh Canada! Bear sightings in British Columbia” Benleah’s photos around Vancouver, Canada

Entry from: Vancouver, Canada Entry Title: “Oh Canada! Bear sightings in British Columbia.” Entry: “VANCOUVER Ben Reporting: We arrive in Vancouver, after a reasonably short bus trek a couple of hours north from Seattle USA, across the border into Canada. This is our fourth country since we started, not including Australia, and we’re excited to be offered a different culture, if only slightly. While Canadians don’t do things all that differently from their southern brethren, there are a few exceptions. I find Canadians a little more courteous and laid back (not to say that the American’s weren’t friendly) but in customer service situations in Canada, we didn’t feel like we were in the way. Also, in Canada they use one and two dollar coins (which the Canadian’s for some odd reason call Looneys and Toonies) instead of dollar notes as in the US. This may seem a small difference, but it really helps in being able to manage your money, especially in being aware of how much you have on your person. There’s also a slight accent difference between America and Canada – Canadian English has definite influences of Scottish and French in it. So even though the variances might be inconsequential, being in Canada allowed us to feel we were venturing into new and undiscovered territory. So to Vancouver; our first

“The long path to Melbourne” Travelingdiva’s photos around Melbourne, Australia

Preview of Travelingdiva’s blog at TravelPod. Read the full blog here: www.travelpod.com This blog preview was made by TravelPod using the TripAdvisor™ TripWow slideshow creator. Entry from: Melbourne, Australia Entry Title: “The long path to Melbourne” Entry: “The journey began in Calgary for me. Ally and I had decided to fly together out of Vancouver so I took a West Jet flight to meet up with her. I spent a day there before we were off on our fabulous adventure! It was nice to be sent off by the family for our short flight from Vancouver to Los Angeles. The LA airport sucks. It is pretty much the worst place you can be stuck for a four hour layover. The layover isn’t quite long enough to leave the airport, because there is nothing within a close distance. When we arrived in LAX we had to pick up our bags from the luggage carousal and take them through security again, even though we went through US customs in the Vancouver airport. Once we got that over with, we had a lot of time to kill and absolutely nothing to do. There are no shops in the airport and the only place to eat is one lousy fast food restaurant. When our boarding gate was finally staffed, we decided to see what it would cost to upgrade to first class. We approached the attendant and asked. She told us our tickets weren’t actually upgradeable to first class, but we could upgrade to business. And the cost would be $5000USD. One way. We quickly decided against it and sat back down again to wait out our

“Vancouver Part 2″ Sotas’s photos around Vancouver, Canada

A TripAdvisor™ TripWow slideshow of a travel blog to Vancouver, Canada by TravelPod blogger Sotas titled “Vancouver Part 2″ Sotas’s travel blog entry: “On our first day here in Vancouver, we decided to go and drive through the different suburbs to see what they are like. Being a Sunday we expected it to be a quiet and laid back drive. We went past Grouse Mountain and Cyprus Mountain, two of the three ski areas just a few minutes outside Vancouver. At the bottom of Grouse Mountain, they have a Timber Wolf sanctuary. They look like mean white dogs. The day started out overcast, but soon cleared, which was spectacular from Cyprus Mountain, looking down at Vancouver. Steven needed to be back at the flat at 2 the afternoon, to send off an email to GIBS – midnight back in SA for his electives next year, but we didn’t know about the Christmas parade in downtown! Our street and all the surrounding streets towards our flat was blocked off, and there were people and cars everywhere – major traffic jam! Great! We tried to get close to the apartment for about 45 min, but wasn’t very successful – then we decided to park, and Steven walked to the flat, but he was not in the happiest of moods (as you can imagine!). Anyway all finally done, we explored a bit more, and came home tired. That evening we went to the lookout tower of Vancouver to see a 360 degree view of the city at night. We decided on the 2nd day to go on the Hop-on Hop-off Vancouver Trolley (They are styled to look like
